This is the second video release from ASM’s new album CROWN YARD. The thick funk-heavy groove of the track is accompanied by a visual narrative that revolves around the famous street artist Liliwenn, founder of the Crimes of Minds project.
The concept for the video was to create a storyline within an alternate world where creative expression is institutionally stifled to the extent that paint (symbolic for means of expression) has been made illegal. The result is a dystopian vision with a light-hearted true school edge.
We follow the three members of ASM, Fade, FP, and Green-T as they weave through the streets of Paris in order to illegally procure cans for the artist Liliwenn to complete a painting, while dodging and avoiding the detective who is on their trail (played by French actor Yann Sorton).
Liliwenn is a contemporary french artist who hails from “the end of the world” – the transatlantic border, where the earth dives into the sea. Her work is defined by an exploration of paradoxes and contrasts: At the same time tortured & utopic, bustling & serene. Oneiric and poetic with surrealist undertones, her art is in perpetual mutation.
